Greg is a member of the Firm's Tax and Transactions
practice team, with an emphasis on business, estate planning, estate
administration and trusts. He handles cases involving business, farm
and ranch organization, reorganization and operation, including corporations,
limited liability companies, limited liability partnerships and limited
partnerships, along with real estate transactions of many varieties
and variations, keeping in mind the various tax aspects overlying the
topic areas. He is an elected Fellow of the American College of Trust
and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) in addition to belonging to various Bar
Associations. He has served as President and is a member of what is
now the Business, Estates, Trusts, Tax and Real Property Law Section
of the State Bar of Montana. Greg has also served as President and
is a member of the Cascade Estate Planning Council.
Greg is honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps.
He received a B.A. degree with a double major in Economics and Political
Science and a minor in English from Concordia College in Moorhead,
Minnesota, in 1970. Three years later, he graduated from University
of North Dakota School of Law, Grand Forks, North Dakota, with a J.D.
degree. He completed his LLM (Taxation) from Georgetown University
Law Center, Washington, D.C., in 1978.
Following graduation from the University of North Dakota, Greg served
as a law clerk for the North Dakota Supreme Court. An honors appointment
led him to the United States Department of Justice, Tax Division, Washington,
D.C., as a trial attorney. He tried lawsuits in federal district courts,
mostly in the southeastern portion of the country, representing the
United States of America on various income, estate and excise tax issues.
Greg joined Church, Harris, Johnson & Williams in January of 1978
where he has worked since that time in various capacities from associate
attorney to partner to shareholder and officer. He served as President
of the firm from 1993 through 2000.
Since becoming part of the Great Falls Community, Greg has been active
in many community activities. He currently is a member of the Military
Affairs Committee (MAC) of the Great Falls Chamber of Commerce, serves
on the Executive Committee of the Committee of 80, a group of private
businessmen that support Malmstrom Air Force Base, participates in
the Co-Commander Program at Malmstrom, serves as a Board member on
his church's Foundation, is a Board member of the Great Falls Development
Authority, a member of the Advisory Board of Directors for First Interstate
Bank of Great Falls, and is a Board member and 2003 President of Meadow
Lark Country Club.
Greg and Deb were married in 1970. They have two wonderful and beautiful
daughters. Greg enjoys hunting, shooting, golf and fast cars.
