Joseph J. Schumacher

Joe Schumacher received his law degree from the University of Montana, School of Law. Prior to attaining his law degree, Joe, along with his wife Shawn, farmed for twenty years in Chouteau County where they are heavily involved in production agriculture. In the words of the late Jerry Garcia; “What a long strange trip its been!”

Joe continues to rely on his knowledge and love of agriculture and small business. He brings with him a solid working knowledge of the complexities, subtleties and nuances involved in many family owned businesses and other small businesses; from start-up and the day-to-day operations, to acquisitions, to the importance of a thoughtful and well executed plan for succession of the business. While his hands-on experience is solidly grounded in agriculture, clients from all walks of life will benefit from the understanding Joe has honed over the past couple of decades. Joe’s practice focuses on Agricultural Law, business planning and real estate transactions.

A native of Idaho, Joe adopted Montana as his home state when he moved here in 1982. He attended Montana State University in Bozeman and received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Great Falls. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with Shawn and their two children, Roman and Madison. They make their home near Fort Benton and the Missouri River. Joe likes working with his hands, fishing and hunting, and generally likes to spend time outdoors witnessing the wonders of nature.
