Rich is a member of the both the firm's litigation
practice group and its tax and probate group. In recent years Rich has
dedicated the majority of his professional time to complex commercial
civil litigation.
Although Rich spent his early childhood in the mid west where his father
was an attorney for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, his and his
parents' roots are in Montana. Rich attended highschool in Billings,
Montana. He received a B.S. in Business Administration with a major
in accounting from the University of Montana. Immediately upon graduation,
Rich sat for and passed the examination as a Certified Public Accountant.
He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Montana School
of Law in 1966.
Following graduation from law school, Rich was admitted to practice
to the Courts of the State of Montana and the United States District
Court for the District of Montana. He spent one year as a law clerk
to the Honorable Russell E. Smith, United States District Judge for
the District of Montana and then joined the law firm of Church, Harris,
Johnson and Williams where he has remained.
